William M. "Bill" Smith
84, of Naples, Fl, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 in Bentley Village Health Care Center. Formerly of Carmel, IN, Bill had been a resident of both Bonita Springs and Naples, since 1998.
Bill was born on August 7, 1929 in Kansas City, KS to the late Arthur and Anna (Hannon) Smith. He was a graduate of Washington High School in Kansas, where he was Senior Class President and was known as the "swell guy." Bill earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas and was a United States Navy veteran.
Bill, a CPA, was President of Morris Plan Corp., before becoming Chairman of National Mutual Life Insurance Company, when he retired in 1998.
Bill enjoyed sailing, playing tennis, bike riding, music, singing and loved his pets.
He is survived by his wife, Anne E. (Bledsoe) Smith; children, Kevin (Beverly) Smith of Carmel, IN, Lisa Smith of Evanston, IL and Michelle (DJ) Fullerton of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith of Carmel, IN, Dustin Fullerton of Carmel, IN and Tiffany Fullerton of Carmel, IN and brother, Jack Smith of Carmichael, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Althea J. (Kline) Smith in 1984.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Flan ner and Buchanan - Washington Park North from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery.
