Mary Jane Wesley

86, of Westfield, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at her home. Mary was born March 2, 1927 in Somerset, KY to the late Charles F. and Margaret S. (Duncan) Denny. Mary graduated from Somerset High School before attending the University of Kentucky.

Mary devoted herself to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love was evident whether she was cooking her family delicious meals or escorting a grandchild on an adventure. Mary enjoyed travel with her husband, from accompanying him on international business trips to weekly picnics at the local parks. Their life moved them frequently, including Ohio, New York, and Canada, before moving to Carmel, and eventually Westfield. Wherever they lived she made a loving and warm home for her family. She was a gifted artist; her paintings hang in honor in the homes of family and friends. Mary was proud of her family heritage. Her research led her to be accepted as a member of the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter of the DAR. Faith was an important part of Mary's life; she is a member of Carmel United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rue R. Wesley, Jr., whom she married on December 26, 1946 in Somerset, KY; sons, Charles R. (Patricia), Jon D. (Deborah) and William T. Wesley; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, James G. (Katherine) Denny. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret C. Kopp; sister, Elizabeth M. Hines and brothers, Charles F., Robert M., and William R. Denny.

Private funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28 in Flanner and Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park , where family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Golden "K" Kiwanis Club or Carmel United Methodist Church.
