Marilyn Louise Blackford Goben

82, of Indianapolis, passed away March 4, 2014. She was born July 6, 1931, in Fountaintown, IN, to the late Clarence Orville and Florence Wood Blackford. Marilyn graduated from Morristown High School in 1949 as President of her senior class.

Marilyn worked for Grain Dealers Insurance Co. in Indianapolis before marrying Donald Goben in 1952. The couple had four children. She began working for American Fletcher National Bank in 1964. In 1993, she retired from Bank One as Assistant Manager of the Irvington Branch. In retirement, Marilyn worked for Moeller Printing Co. and Jerri Goben and Associates, PC.

Marilyn served as treasurer of the Cumberland United Methodist Church Leadership Board; she was treasurer of the PTA at Grassy Creek Elementary School for many years. She was also a member of the Bayside Woods Homeowners Association, where she served as treasurer for four years.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 N. Shadeland Ave. with visitation there from 12:30 p.m.

Marilyn is survived by her four children, Sandra Goben Akin of Montgomery, AL, Ted Goben of Mesick, MI, Jerri Goben of Indianapolis and Kent Goben of Elmira, NY. Also surviving are grandchildren, Andrew MacDonald Akin, Anne Elizabeth Akin Cowan (Andy), Caroline Akin Hubbard (Charles), Anna Christine Goben, Abigail Hedrick Goben, Viktor Christian Goben, Eliza Jane Goben, Benjamin Patrick Goben (Stephanie) and Nicole Marie Goben; great-grandchild, Mary Virginia Cowan; sister, Eleanor Gardner; brother, Hubert Blackford (Carolyn); and cousin, Doris Spratt.

Memorial contributions may be made to Castleton United Methodist Church.
