Betty J. Bostick Shafer

Our beloved mother, Betty J. Shafer (Bostick), born on December 25, 1929 in Fairhaven, OH, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2014. Betty was married to her adoring husband, Meredith, for 55 years until his death in 2003.

She is survived by one brother, Donald Bostick (Jan) of Richmond, IN and 3 children, Michael (Jeanne) of Vermont, Gary (Brenda) and Shari Hinrichsen of Indianapolis. She was affectionately known as "Mimi" to their 7 grandchildren, Ian (Laura), Ryan (Jennifer) and Colin (Julie) Shafer, Zachary (Meredith) and Brooke Shafer, Erik and Kellen (Megan) Hinrichsen and as "Aunt Jane" to her numerous nieces and nephews. She also was blessed with 3 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ella and Lena.

Betty was employed for 18 years by the Lilly Endowment as the executive secretary to the president. Prior to that she was the school secretary to principals at several elementary schools within Lawrence Township. Betty was always known for her exceptional work ethic, quick smile and sweet, caring nature.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel , with viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately followed by a celebratory service, and afterward a private graveside service.
