Charles Joseph Van Treese

88, went to be with the Lord April 10, 2014. He was born in Indianapolis April 12, 1925 to the late Harold E. and Emma I. Van Treese. Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Muriel (Johnson) Van Treese; children, Steven (Debbie) Van Treese and Cynthia (Kelly) Van Treese-Swegman; sister, Patricia Gooldy; grandchildren, Chris (Jo) Van Treese, Mandy (Mark) Ayler and Nikki Van Treese; and six great-grandchildren and many cousins. A brother, Harold "Bud" Van Treese, preceded him in death.

Charles was a 1943 graduate of Manual High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed as a Tool & Die Maker for Western Electric 30 years, retiring in 1981. He and Muriel were also the owners/operators of Yogi Bear Campground, in Henry Co.

Charles was actively involved in Boy Scouts Troop 184, a volunteer for the Wanamaker Vol. Fire Dept., Marine Corps League, served as past president of Hoosier Campground Association and was a member of the NRA. Charles was a former member of Knightstown Christian Church and a current member of Indian Creek Christian Church. Charlie had a Servants Heart, always ready to serve where he saw need. He loved JESUS, his church, his family, his country and his community.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Monday at 10:00 a.m. and burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
