Wilbur Raymond Clark
96, of Indianapolis, passed away April 15, 2014. He was born July 26, 1917 in Lawrenceburg, IN, to the late Virley and Anne Warburton Clark. Wilbur was a 1934 graduate of Lawrenceburg High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Bomb Disposal Unit during WWII, retiring as Staff Sergeant. Wilbur married June Marie Wood, and she preceded him in death in 1981. He began his career as a funeral director with Fitch Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, IN, was employed with Flanner & Buchanan for several years, and retired after 17 years with Shirley Brothers Mortuaries in 1982. Wilbur was on the grounds crew for Ben Davis High School athletic fields for many years, retiring in 2012.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. with visitation there from 4:00 p.m.
Wilbur is survived by his son, John "J.D." Clark (Carol); grandchildren, Kenneth D. Clark (Wanda), Brian Clark (Crystal), Kristin M. Clark (John Prewitt) and Matthew D. Clark (Molly); and five great-grandchildren. A son, Kenneth W. "Casey" Clark, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne Township Education Foundation, the Avon Education Foundation and/or the Ben Davis Athletic Booster Club.
