Doris Evans Russell

Indianapolis, was born June 21, 1918 and died April 19, 2014.

Doris was educated in the Gary, IN public schools, and Indiana University in Bloomington. In later years at the age of 75, she completed her undergraduate studies at Butler University.

A long time member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, in April of 2013, Mrs. Russell earned the distinction of being a 75 year Diamond member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. In 1992, she was featured in The Indianapolis Star and then Mayor Stephen Goldsmith proclaimed May 8, 1993, "Doris E. Russell Day."

Celebration of Life will be Monday, April 28, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Stuart Mortuary Chapel and Monday, April 28, from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church and interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.

The widow of Guy E. Russell, she will be mourned by her children, Guy Evans Russell, Gayle Diane Russell Coyle and Gwendolyn Cara Russell Green; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and brother John Evans.
