Theodore W. Cutshall

86, associate professor emeritus of chemistry, passed away May 12, 2014 at Marquette Manor after battling a short-term illness. He was born March 22, 1928 in Lafayette, IN to the late Chester Sherman and Hattie Flaig Cutshall.

Theodore graduated from Purdue University with a degree in chemical engineering, and earned a master, and his doctorate in organic chemistry from Northwestern University in 1964. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Sigma Xi, Indiana Academy of Science, and an emeritus member of the American Chemical Society.

He joined the faculty of the chemistry department at Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis, IN in 1961, retiring in 1994 after teaching undergraduate chemistry courses for 34 years. Theodore was also a veteran, serving his Country from 1951-1952 as a chemist working for the U.S. Army Medical Nutrition Labs in Chicago, IL.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel . 9900 Allisonville Rd. with funeral services Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Theodore is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Ryerson Cutshall; son, Kenneth Cutshall (Cathy); daughter-in-law, Tammy Cutshall; sister, Carolyn Conrad (Ed); and 4 grandchildren. Theodore was preceded in death by his son, David Cutshall.
