Beverly B. Cook
Indianapolis, born May 10, 1933, died May 18, 2014, at Marquette Health Care Center. She was 81 years of age. A native of Harrisville, MI, Bev earned a RN degree from Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing. During her career, she held many nursing positions including at St. Vincent's Hospice and New Hope Foundation.
Bev attended Interlochen Summer Arts Camp as a child, and her love for music persisted throughout her life. Whether it was leading everyone at Marquette in spontaneous song, or singing "Summertime" to all of her grandchildren, Bev could light up a room with music wherever she went.
Bev loved life and celebrated that love with those around her. She was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family and everyone was having a good time. She was the first to find a reason to celebrate. She spent her life serving others with kindness and compassion. Her generosity and concern was unmatched. We know that she will watch over us forever.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Sydney P. Cook. They were members of Highland Golf and Country Club and Second Presbyterian Church. Bev is survived by her two daughters, Amy Steele (William) and Carolyn Nichols (Scott, Sr.), her grandchildren, Scott Nichols, Jr. (Rebecca), Emily Steele Duckworth (Ryan), Megan Marks-Peltz (Jeremy), and Elizabeth Steele, and her great-granddaughter Stella Duckworth.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in Marquette Manor Foundation Hall. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bev's name can be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 10086, Toledo, OH 43699.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Marquette Health Care and, especially Dawn and Barb from Heartland Hospice for their loving care.
