Ida Rose Agatha Caito Meyer

93, Jasper, formerly of Greenwood, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born on November 22, 1920 in Indianapolis to August and Mary Anne Mercurio Caito. Ida was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at the family business, Caito and Mascari Produce. She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. Ida was an accomplished seamstress and loved playing the piano and dancing. Ida and her husband, Aloysius H. Meyer, received the Distinguished Hoosier Award in 2011 from Governor Mitchell E. Daniels. They also received the Hoosier Heartland Outstanding Forestry Stewardship Award, the Indiana Wildlife Foundation's Forest Conservationist of the Year Award, and a Certificate of Recognition from the United States Senate for their contributions to the State of Indiana. Ida was preceded in death by her husband on December 11, 2011. She was also preceded by her sister, Magdalena "Mag" Mascari and her brothers, Phillip J. Caito, John B. Caito and Joseph a Caito Sr. Survivors include her children, John Meyer (Shannon),Greenwood, Michael Meyer (Lisa), Greenwood, Mary Agnes Gates (Larry), Loogootee, Joanne Jones (Frank), Louisville; grandchildren, Alan Lagree (Julie), Loogootee, Stephen Lagree, Madison, WI, Kristine Lagree, Loogootee, Joseph Meyer, Rose Meyer, both of Greenwood, Nathaniel Jones, Lexington, KY, Anthony Meyer, Katie Meyer, Matthew Meyer, all of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Tess Lagree; sister, Frances Navarra, Indianapolis; brothers, Thomas and August Caito, Indianapolis. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Online condolences may be shared with the family at:
