Herbert Howard Lynch, Jr.
A former long-time Carmel resident passed away Sunday May 25, 2014. He was 88 years old. Mr. Lynch moved to Carmel in 1956 and retired to Pompona Beach, Florida in 1989. He is survived by daughter Pamela Devanney (William) of Houston, TX, son Mark Lynch (Lori) of Carmel and daughter Rebecca Lynch of Carmel along with sisters Margorie Reed of Casagrande, AZ and Delores Bunner (Donald) of Monticello, IN. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Mr. Lynch was married to the former Norma Eastridge for thirty-one years who proceeeded him in death in 1989 and the former June Kopp for seven years who proceeded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Lynch served in World War II as a cryptographer in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Lynch received his B.S. and M.B.A degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, where he was a member of Theta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Lynch began his freight transporation career in 1947. He worked for Chevrolet in Indianapolis and Detroit, MI. In 1960 he founded Transconsultants, Inc., a trucking and freight consulting firm. Mr. Lynch was a member of the I.C.C. Practitioners Association, Delta Nu Alpha transportation fraternity and several traffic clubs in Indiana and Ohio. Mr. Lynch was a fifty year member of North Park Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis and Elks Lodges in Anderson, IN and Pompano Beach, FL. In retirement he took up square dancing where he met his second wife, the former June Kopp, traveled the country in his Roadtrek Van and loved anything IU, the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers.
Inurnment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. A private family Celebration of Life for Mr. Lynch will be held on Saturday June 7, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made to the
