Shirley I. Gilgrist Dykes

58, of Indianapolis, passed away June 14, 2014. She was born in Indianapolis on February 2, 1956 to the late Thomas A. and Norma Hamilton Gilgrist.

Shirley graduated from North Central High School, Class of 1974 and J. Everett Light Career Center as a licensed practical nurse. She worked as a charge nurse for American Village for 8 years and prior to that with Miller's Merry Manor for 3 years. She was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at 12:00 noon at Old Bethel United Methodist Church, 7995 E. 21st St.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Terry L. (Amber) and Thomas A. Dykes; grandson, Owen T. Dykes; sister, Mary J. (Dennis) Dykes; niece, Abby Dykes; and nephews, Justin and D.J. Dykes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Judy Gilgrist.
