Elaine Rapoport Levinson
January 26, 1947 - June 26, 2014
Born in Cleveland, OH, graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in education. Married to Sanford Levinson on June 15, 1969.
Honored by several charities for her tireless work, such as Second Helpings and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, from which she was honored with the Chairman's Citation Award for Service, Leadership and Impact. In September, Elaine will be awarded the Kipnis-Wilson Friedland Award for National Lion of Judah by the Jewish Federation, for inspiring her local Jewish community. She also was responsible for founding the charities Blankets of Kindness and Helping Handbags, among others.
Mostly, she was involved with her dear family.
Loving wife, selfless mother, devoted friend, philanthropist, mentor, inspiration, and all-around rock star.
Loved and admired by family and countless friends. Never an unkind word, she was a leader who led with love, her glowing example, and an unending supply of sage advice. Her sense of humor kept smiles on all of the faces that surrounded her. Always a hand to hold. Always a shoulder to cry on. A guiding light and matriarch to her two children, two grandchildren, four nieces and nephew. A best friend and comforting ear to her sister and her mother. Exceptional partner in life, fun and business to her husband of 45 happy years. Simply put, a truly amazing woman, and a blessing to all that knew her. Elaine's love and light will shine on through her family.

Elaine is survived by her mother Esther Rapoport, her husband Sanford, daughter and son-in-law Sherri and David Klain, son Scott, grandsons Brady and Mason Klain, sister and brother-in-law Sonny and Steve Hurst and their daughters Debbie and Karen, sister-in-law Sheila Patsiner and her family, Jodi, Marc and Stephanie Patsiner.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, 600 West 70th Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46260, with burial following in Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. The family will be observing the shivah period, where friends may visit, at the home of Sherri and David Klain on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
