John "Abe" H. V. Evans III

Died June 14, 2014 in Indianapolis. Born February 12, 1951 in Yakima, Washington. Active in touring choir, Abe graduated from Wittenberg University in 1973 in history and political science. A bass in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus with Robert Shaw, Abe sang on 16 recordings that earned 14 Grammys. In 1985 Abe married Suzanne Alldredge, partnering with her family's photography business until Suzanne's death in 2003. From Atlanta, Georgia, they moved to Atlanta, Indiana and opened AppleTree Photographers. Abe served twice on the Atlanta Town Council and represented Atlanta on the Regional Transit Authority. He was a substitute teacher for Hamilton Heights schools and sang with many choirs, most recently Encore Vocal Arts and Second Presbyterian Church. His parents John HV Evans, Jr. and Janet Bonnewitz Evans also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cantor Judith Meyersberg; stepdaughter, Lisa (Michael) Ilk and grandson Brett Ilk; sister, Laura Abigail "Abby" (Theodore) Mathiesen, and their children and grandchildren. A memorial service for Abe will occur on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 1207 Conner Street, Noblesville, Indiana at 4:00 p.m. Contributions in Abe's memory may be made to Encore Vocal Arts (/, the Little Red Door Cancer Agency (/, or Hamilton Heights Educational Foundation, P.O.
