Vera Rose Shutt Whisler
72, of Indianapolis, passed away with hospice care in her home, surrounded by loved ones on July 12, 2014. Vera's birth; July 5, 1942 was recently celebrated with family and friends at the Althenheim Community where she was a resident. She attended St. Philip Neri grade school and St. Mary Academy high school. Her career as an accountant was evidence of her many skills. She retired from Easter Seals Crossroads. Her blindness never stopped her abilities to strive for the best in all endeavors, and received the special honor as "Handicapped Adult of the Year". She was a long time member of St. Bernadette parish and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was active leader in many past and present organizations. Vera is mother of two sons, Christopher and Joseph Whisler; daughters-in-law, Mandy and Candice Whisler; four grandchildren, Celia, Christopher, Hannah and Megan. Was oldest of sisters, Jean Ann Hafley, Mary Frances Williams, Alice Tremble and brother Tony Shutt. She will be specially remembered by nieces, nephews, family and friends. Vera was preceded in death by Donald Whisler; granddaughter, Jessica Whisler; and her parents Harry and Mary Helen Shutt.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15 from 4-8 p.m. at Feeney- Hornak Shadeland Mortuary . Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the mortuary followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorials in Vera's name may be made to Easter Seals Crossroads.
