Margie B. Snyder Obituary

Margie Belle Morris Snyder

87, Indianapolis, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 1, 2014. She became a Christian when she was 8-years-old and dedicated her faith and talents to the Church of God (Anderson, IN). She dedicated her life and love to her family and friends.

Margie was born in Detroit, MI then moved to Indiana when she was three-months-old. Margie grew up with her mom and dad, Lawrence and Gracie, and her brother and sister, George and Wanda "Bunny."

Margie began playing the piano and organ when she was 12-years-old and played both instruments for more than 60 years within the Church of God (West Washington Street Church of God/Westlake Community, and Rainbow Acres/Avon Community Church of God). At 16, she took her musical talents to the Ben Davis High School Marching Band, where she, along with two others, were the first drum majorettes in school history. She graduated from BDHS in 1944. Margie was also involved with many USO events throughout WWII at the Indiana Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. Later she married Jim Snyder; their marriage lasted fifty-eight years and together they raised five children. Margie was a homemaker for many years and later became a Medical Secretary retiring from The Neurology Department at IUPUI after 15 years. Her work did not stop there. She spent her later years taking care of her grandkids, which was the best "job" of her life. Margie enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, traveling, big band and religious music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Gracie (Archer) Morris; her husband, James A Snyder; and her sons, Jimmy and Phil Snyder.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve (Ellen) and Jeff (Brooke) Snyder; daughter, Twila Snyder; brother, George (Barbara, deceased) Morris; sister, Wanda (Harry) Middleton; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Darrel) Hetzler; grandchildren, Jamie (Lance), Genesis (Dan), Vickie (Joe), Kiera (Michael), Chrissy, Jessica (Chip), Aaron and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Caleb, Madeline, Marlee, Raya, Mckenna, Lucus, Wagner, Aubrey, Stella, Briella, Kinsley, and Raelynn Nicole Belle; and great-great-grandson, Chason.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Today, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel . The Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in the funeral home. Margie will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery.
