Thomas Anthony Hughes

79, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2012. Tom was born in German Village, Columbus, OH on April 16, 1933.

He served in the US Navy, attended Ohio State University and later joined the Marion County Sheriff Department in Indianapolis where he proudly served his community for nearly 30 years. He was dedicated to helping others and gave selflessly to those in need with the simple request that they "pass it along". He was a member of the American Legion as well as the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Madeline (Courtade) Hughes; brothers Edward and Richard Hughes; sister Dolores Heininger; daughter Maureen Hughes and grandson, Devon Hughes.

He is survived by beloved sister, Eileen (Ted) Pflum; sister-in-law, Patricia Hughes; former wife, Elinor Davis; children, Thomas E., Kathy, Eileen and Patty Hughes, Anne Nelson, Peggy Driscol, Beth Sellers, Molly McClelland, Amy Powell and Sarah White; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8th at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 4217 N. Central Ave., Indianapolis.
