Glenda A. "Sissy" Marley
73, of Greenwood, IN, passed away peacefully at 3:20 p.m., November 1, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 24, 1939, in Loogootee, IN, to the late Donald and Crystol Spaulding. She married Jack Marley on April 7, 1959. They settled in Indianapolis where they raised their family before moving to Greenwood in 2006.
Mrs. Marley worked at Sears for 20 years before retiring. She was a charter member of St. Simon The Apostle Catholic Church, formerly on the Eastside of Indianapolis; a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; and a current member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Glenda gave freely of her time to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, volunteering, reading, maintaining lifelong friendships, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend, Jack Marley; children, Kent (Sherri ) Marley of Greenwood, Michelle (John) Malina of Columbus, IN, Kirk (Cyndi) Marley, of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kristen, Sean and Nick Marley, John and Gabrielle Malina, Conor and Ethan Marley; sister, Janice (Jerry) O'Neill of Greenfield and their children, Pat O'Neill, Kathy Reger, Mike O'Neill and Ann O'Neill-Schlosser and their families.
Mrs. Marley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Marley; and brother, Donald Anthony (Tony) Spaulding.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Greenwood, 335 S. Meridian Street, Greenwood, with Father John McCaslin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 4 in Wilson St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel , 481 West Main Street & Highway 31.
