Jennifer Lynn Martin
39, passed away at her home on Friday, November 9, 2012 surrounded by loving family and friends. She fought a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with bile duct cancer. Jennifer was born November 7, 1973. She was a 1992 graduate of Clarksville High School where she was salutatorian of her class. Jennifer also graduated cum laude from Franklin College with a bachelors degree in accounting. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and Student Foundation. Her career as a C.P.A. began at the Indianapolis firm of Dewitt and Shrader and she later started her own accounting company, JLM Consulting. Jennifer loved meeting new people and international travel, beginning with a semester at Harlaxton College in England; later enjoying trips to Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and Peru. She especially enjoyed taking trips with family and friends. She became part of the "green" movement during college and committed to an earth-friendly lifestyle that included co-op gardening with her neighbors. Jennifer had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed. Jennifer was an active servant-leader in her community through Rotary International. She also was a supporter of pet advocacy groups and was the devoted owner of three rescued cats. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, William R. "Bob" and Julia Holst Martin; aunts and uncles, Nancy and David Martin, John Holst; cousins, Wendy Martin, Kelly Hawkins (Mike), Mark, Kyle, Megan, and Klara Holst; special friend Sam Watson. Special thanks to Dr. Dan Milton and staff of H.O.I. and St. Vincent Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, November 12 at Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home, Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel , 5342 E. Washington Street. Additional visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 13 at Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Home, Oak Street Chapel, 1846 Oak, New Albany, IN 47150. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14 at Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial gifts in Jennifer's memory to Cat's Haven of Indianapolis or Rotary International c/o Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home.
