Georgia Merchant Day
Age 94, of Arcadia, IN died Monday, November 12, 2012 at her home. She was born March 19, 1918 at Brook, Indiana to Jay and Laura (Carpenter) Merchant.
She was a 1936 graduate of Brook High School, then earned a bachelor of science degree in Home Economics from Purdue University in 1940. She taught home economics and health classes at Renssalaer, Galveston, Richmond, Jackson Central, and Hamilton Heights High Schools.
Georgia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cicero, IN, Indiana State Teachers Association, and a 50-year member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She had been a 4-H leader at Arcadia for 23 years.
She married Fred Vincent Day on August 14, 1948. He preceded her in death July 27, 1996. Her parents and an infant daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Day, also preceded her in death.
Surviving her are three sons: Fred Lee Day of Leiters Ford, IN, Dan Day of Noblesville, IN and Ben Day of Arcadia, IN, a sister: Martha Noel of DesMoines, IA, 4 grandchildren: Allison Tusing,
Michelle Stevens and Debbie Coburn of Indianapolis, IN and David Day of Cicero, IN, as well as 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cicero, IN. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel.
