Harold H. "Hal" Bredell, Jr.
Passed away at his home in Frankford, West Virginia on November 17, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 19, 1940, the eldest son of Harold and Victoria Bredell.
He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and served in the Army Reserves. After service, he was a stockbroker in Chicago and then followed his father's footsteps as the CEO of Vernon Insurance Company in Indianapolis. He was an extraordinary businessman and retired at the age of 50. During his time in Indianapolis, he was an accomplished equestrian and instrumental in the operations of The Traders Point Charity Horse Show. He loved riding and fox hunting with The Traders Point Hunt and served as Traders Point Whipper-In in the field, the President and the Treasurer for years. He also served as a Past President of the Humane Society in Indianapolis.
After he retired, he moved with his wife and family to The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV and enjoyed playing golf and traveling to South Carolina and Florida during the winter months. He was a member of many different golf communities, including the Sporting Club, Keswick, Bay Hill and Mountain Lake and enjoyed visiting and playing many different courses.
After 15 years of living at The Greenbrier, he moved to Frankford, West Virginia and enjoyed a quiet and peaceful life with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Clare X. Bredell; his brother, Philip Bredell; his daughters, Lynette Xanders-Martin and family, Sarah E. Bredell and family, Angi Xanders and family, Bess Bredell and family and Victoria B. Beaulieu and family.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV is in charge of the cremation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
