Shirley Ann Harris Eubank
81, of Indianapolis, passed away November 18, 2012. She was born December 15, 1930, to the late Fred and Leona Mertz Harris.
Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Howe High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University in 1958, and married David A. Eubank, who preceded her in death in 2006. Shirley was a teacher for two years, but her real calling and passion was being a full time caregiver for her mother; her two daughters; her uncle, Harold Mertz; her aunt, Ethel Stricklin; and her loving husband in the final years of his life.
Shirley was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, the Home Economics Guild of Indianapolis, Howe High School Alumni Board, Woodland Country Club where she was a member of the 18 & 9 Hole Ladies League and the Woodland Bowling League. She was an avid IU & Purdue athletics fan.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Darcie Lang (Jeffrey); and one grandson, Lawrence D. Smith of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Denise Eubank, also preceded her in death.
The family wishes to thank the Sunrise Staff at Old Meridian for the wonderful thoughtfulness and care given to Shirley.
