Paul Cento

79, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on February 21, 2013. He was born in Italy to Guerino and Carmela Cento. He was a famous Italian shoemaker, who was known for making shoes for Pope Pius XII and Sophia Loren in Italy. He served in the Italian Air Force. In 1956, he came to America for the first time, where he resided in Beech Grove, Indiana for 7 years with his family. He returned to Italy in 1963 where he met and married his lovely wife, Lisa on December 4, 1966. They returned to America and started their life together. They had 2 children over the next 4 years, Mike and Tony. In 1971, he started Cento Shoes. Over the next few years he grew his amazing reputation as being the best shoe repair store in the city of Indianapolis. He expanded the business and started selling men's dress shoes and accessories while developing incredible customer relationships. Throughout the next few years, with the help of his wife, Lisa, they grew the business eventually bringing in their 2 sons to assist in running Cento Shoes which is still a successful business today. Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lisa; 2 sons, Mike and Tony Cento; daughter-in-law, Gina Cento; 6 grandchildren, Olivia, Paul, Anthony, Michael, Isabella and Antonio Cento; sisters, Rosa Cento, Katherine LaMonaca and Antoinette Pizzi; brother, John Cento; sister-in-law, Pina Cento; brothers-in-law, Luca LaMonaca and Federico Pizzi; 4 nieces and 8 nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home where morning prayers will be said on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family at
