Emily Christine Jordan
age 101, of Indianapolis, passed away March 19, 2013. Emily was born December 23, 1911, to the late Henry and Emily(Egger) Sorhage. Emily is survived by her son, Denver C. Jordan(Marsha) and granddaughter, Emily A. Jordan. Emily Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Denver C. R. Jordan, her parents, a brother(Frederick Sorhage) and a sister(Irma Sorhage). Emily attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated as the class valedictorian. She then attended Butler University where she ranked in the top 10 students of her graduating class, earning her the opportunity to work on her Masters Degree at Columbia University in New York City. Later, she worked as a second grade school teacher and consultant for the Indianapolis Public School System for more than 20 years. After retiring from teaching, Emily participated in several civic and community organizations leading to her being awarded the Key to the City of Indianapolis by then mayor, Richard Lugar. Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the time of the service.
