Of Indianapolis, passed away on March 24, 2013. Donna was the daughter of Tiffin and Gladys Zimmerman of Richmond, Indiana.
Donna was a graduate of Richmond High School, and St. Joseph's University (Rensselaer, IN). For the first 10 years of her teaching career she taught 1st grade at Precious Blood Catholic Church and School (Dayton, OH), and for the last 22 years she taught 3rd grade at St. Luke Catholic School (Indianapolis, IN).
She was an AMAZING mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, and everything. Anyone that came into contact with you would tell you what an outgoing, fun loving, caring, kind, one-of-a-kind, and loving person she was! She was an amazing teacher who loved each and everyone of her students. All she ever asked was that you tried your personal best. She expected this from her students and herself. She spent many extra hours both after school and late at night tutoring students that needed extra help, as well as making sure her lesson plans were perfect for the next day. She encouraged students to follow their dreams, and told them that with hard work anything was possible. She loved seeing her students succeed and achieve their dreams both in and out of the classroom and would smile as she told stories of former students whom had just made their varsity high school team, been admitted to their dream college, just married the guy or girl of their dreams, gotten their dream job, or had their first child.
She was an avid sports fan, and loved cheering on her favorite Pacers, Reds, Colts, and especially her Hoosiers! She was a fan of the arts as well. She would often be heard singing selections from her favorite Broadway Musicals (Hello Dolly, Bye Bye Birdie, and the Sound of Music) while grading papers, doing housework, or just to cheer up a friend. She also loved to sing to her children, and most recently, her first grandchild.
She was an amazing friend and gave of herself freely to all those who were in need. She was the most positive person you would ever meet, and took every opportunity to put a smile on someone else's face!
She is survived by her husband of 33 years Pat, her sons, Ryan (Amy) Moran, Chris (Katie) Moran, Packy (Anna) Moran; brother, Tim (Midge) Zimmerman; sister, Kelly (son, Michael) Garfield, and grandchild, Patrick Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tiffin and Gladys, and aunt Betty Wright.
