Virginia J. Norris
Age 92, of Bloomington, passed away early Tuesday morning August 13, 2013 at the Indiana University health Bloomington Hospital. She was born March 21, 1921 in Monroe County to Samuel Paul and Ada May Weaver Jordan.
A dynamic wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, hospital minister, and Christian leader, Virginia Norris gave inspiration and faith to all who knew her. In caring for and building peoples' lives, she connected with hearts wherever she went.
Eager to learn, she continually improved her people skills and leadership qualities into her 90's. Virginia was a faithful, loving wife to E.A. "Woody" Norris for sixty-five years and a dedicated mother of four. Her twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren all adored her.
Virginia began her new life in Christ at age fifty .Her journey of faith began in Indianapolis at Calvary Tabernacle and continued on in Bloomington at Cherry Hill Christian Center and City Church for All Nations. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was active in prayer and praise teams. She volunteered as a Chaplin's Assistant for twenty-five years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, ten years at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital, and three years at Monroe Hospital. She was the oldest graduate of Outpouring School of Ministry in Bloomington. Her sparkle, joy, and life-giving attributes were contagious and influential.
Virginia is survived by son, Jeff Norris (Kay); daughter, Jennifer Kreitl (Joe); and son, Kim Norris (Renee). She is also survived by her sister, Judy MacFarland (Mac); brother, John Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, E.A. "Woody" Norris; and daughter, Kelly Grimes.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at City Church 1200 North Russell Road. Virginia's son, Pastor Kim Norris will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be also held at City Church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
