Emily Joanne Clay Robinson
Mother of the "Magnificent Seven" (Lisa, Jay, Lee, Joi, Doug, Brian and Jon Robinson) the wife of Clifford Fossett Robinson passed October 18, 2013.
Born February 21, 1937, the first child of Richard and Ernestine (Hamilton) Clay, Emily was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and attended Indianapolis Public Schools #24, #17 and Crispus Attucks High School (Class of 1955). She was formerly employed at the Indiana State Department of Welfare-Public Assistance for the Blind, and over the years worked on a part-time basis in the School of Medicine Library, Office of Radiation Safety, School of Social Work, Upward Bound Program, and the Office of Real Estate and Property Management, all on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Emily enjoyed watching her children participate in activities at St. Joan of Arc, Tabernacle Recreation, and Ozark Ike Little League. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, was an avid fan of the TV game show "Jeopardy," enjoyed reading, listening to jazz and watching the Pacers and Colts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Helen Clay, brother Kenneth Kinsey, and sister Sharon Johnson. In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her children, Lisa Teague (Paul), Jay, Lee (Kimberly Brown), Joi, Douglas, Brian (Carol Ray) and Jon. She is also survived by brothers, Richard Clay, Jr., David Lee Odle, Samuel (Alexis) Odle, Stephen (Elizabeth) Odle, and sisters Anita Clay, Alice Clay, Rebecca Harrison and Kathy Rice, grandchildren Loren Ray, Paula Teague, Sheila Teague, and Alexander Clay Robinson, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be at Stuart Mortuary, 2201 N. Illinois St on Friday, October 25th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, October 26th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with services at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to Noble of Indiana, 7701 E. 21st St., Indianapolis, IN 46219.
