Anthony John Scheible

90, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 16, 2013. John was blessed with a wonderful life. He married the love of his life, Judy (Johnson), who as John said was "an angel from God" and he felt blessed to be her husband.

John was preceded in death by his father, Gunther Walter Scheible, his mother, Martha Smith Scheible and his most beloved sister, Ruth Higgins and four of his precious dogs, who will accompany John on his journey to God.

John grew up in Indianapolis. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He felt honored to have been in Tokyo Bay when the WWII Peace Treaty was signed.

After the war, John attended the University of Chicago. Afterwards, he was admitted to the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, where he was tutored by the legendary artist, Elmer Taflinger.

John was also an avid fan of aviation, eventually becoming a pilot himself.

John was always very active in his faith and his heritage. He was the Faithful Navigator of Bishop Chatard 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a commander of the Speedway VFW, the American Legion, and the German-American Club.

John was extremely proud and honored to have worked for Cardinal Contracting for 50 years, and he considered all those he worked with as family and dear friends.

Many thanks to Dr. Steven Harris for 30 years of excellent care and also to Dawn at Heartland Hospice and all those who lovingly and thoughtfully attended to John at Pyramid Point Nursing Center.

Arrangements entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Madison Ave nue Funeral Home.
