Joyce Settles Obituary

Joyce L. Settles

86, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013. Our beloved Mother was born July 25, 1927, the daughter of James E. and Doris (Lambert) Davis. Mom worked as a Secretary at RCA, Indianapolis Association of Credit Mens and ended her career as a Quality Inspection Specialist with the Department of Defense. Joyce was a member of Post Road Christian Church, Christian Heritage Fellowship, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a Volunteer at Community Hospital East. Throughout her life she enjoyed dancing, bowling, bingo, traveling and gardening. Her greatest joy was being with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom is survived by her 5 children: James (Candace) Finn of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Timothy (Ludmilla) Finn of Tampa, Florida, Kathleen (Tom) Castleman of Westfield, Indiana, Kim (Tammy) Finn of Fishers, Indiana and Jennifer (John) Grief of Carmel, Indiana, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her parents and three husbands preceded mom in death: James H. Finn, Harold P. Stanley and Denzel Settles. Services will be on Friday, December 6 at 2 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan - Me morial Park , 9350 E. Washington Street. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan - Memorial Park. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Post Road Christian Church, 1112 N. Post Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Joyce had a very loving and youthful soul. The world will never be the same without her charisma, but her beautiful spirit will live on in all who knew her.
