50, Fishers, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013.

He was born September 26, 1963 in Indianapolis, IN to Robert Gene James and Mary Alice (Garrett) James. He grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Park Tudor High School in 1982. He later attended DePauw University, where he became a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He continued his service to Sigma Chi by becoming a Life Loyal Sig, and was active in undergraduate initiations of his son's chapter in recent years. Bob earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Law School.

Bob was an attorney, practicing since 1992 and most recently employed at Baxter, James, & Rose, LLP in Indianapolis for the past 10 years.

He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Fishers. He also was President of the Noblesville-Southeastern Library Board and a precinct committeeman.

Bob was a proud Mason. He was a Past Master of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #398 F. & A. M.; member of the Murat Shrine, most recently serving as counsel for the Board of Directors; member, Prather Commandery No. 62; and a member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Masonic Heritage Foundation.

A 33rd degree Mason, Bob was Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, serving on the Board from 2010-2013; chairman of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite Foundation; and was Past Commander-In-Chief of the Indiana Consistory from 2001-2002.

He was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, Red Cross of Constantine, and the Bartimaus Lodge No. 77.

Most importantly, Bob was a very proud father of Caitlyn Day James and Robert Garrett James, II. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Mary Alice James of Carmel, and a cousin, Debra (Keith) James of Clarks Hill, IN. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew William James.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 12:30-3:30 P.M. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 650 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 P.M. at the Cathedral with Rev. Ken Mansfield officiating.
