Alfred S. "Jake" Lasley, Sr.

Senior Master Sergeant

85, passed away June 18, 2014. He was born to the late William and Bessie Lasley on January 11, 1929 in Lebanon, Virginia.

He married the love of his life, Mary Jo Lasley on March 21, 1952. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and then began working for RCA which is where he retired from after 20 years of hard work and dedication. Following his retirement he loved to travel. He visited Arizona, Florida, Virginia, Wickenburg and Bullhead City. Not to mention he was an avid golfer. He truly enjoyed being a member of the Cumberland Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrines, the president of the Liars Club at the Ransburg YMCA, a long time member of the Old Bethel Church and a lifelong member of the VFW.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jo Lasley of Indianapolis; his daughter, Cathryn Lasley of Indianapolis; his son, Alfred Smith (Heidi) Lasley of Meadville Pennsylvania; two grandchildren Jessica and Jacob Lasley; his brothers, Howard (Stella) Lasley, Donald (Billie) Lasley both of Lebanon Virginia and his cat, Spooky. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Manion, Shelby Hughs and his brothers, Whitt, Paul, Raymond and Sammy Lasley.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Hendryx Mortuary Cumberland Chapel , with a funeral service to immediately follow.
