ELIZABETH MOHRFELD Obituary

MOHRFELD
ELIZABETH W., (nee Gentel), Artist, age 100, died at The Evergreens in Moorestown, NJ on June 12, 2012. Mrs. Mohrfeld was a 62 year resident of Haddonfield, NJ, where her studio was located. She won prizes for her portraits in juried shows in the Philadelphia area, as well as in NJ and NYC. Mrs. Mohrfeld was awarded the Burdine Prize from the Woodmere Gallery in Chestnut Hill, PA and a First Prize from the Violet Oakley Foundation. Her portraits are in collections throughout New Jersey, the Philadelphia area, Florida, California, Virginia and Paris, France.
Mrs. Mohrfeld attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Barnes Foundation in Merion, PA and studied with Robert Brackman in Noank, CT. She also spent a year studying in Paris, France.
Mrs. Mohrfeld grew up in Collingswood, NJ where she met and later married her classmate, Herbert H. Mohrfeld, who predeceased her.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah E. Van Den Bossche (Joseph) of Ashaway, RI, son Richard G. Mohrfeld (Janice) of Pilesgrove, NJ, five grandchildren, Linda Barovier (Carl), Gregg Van Den Bossche, Kris Van Den Bossche, Kate Mohrfeld and Christopher Mohrfeld and two great-granddaughters Hannah and Rachel Barovier.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at The Evergreens, 309 Bridgeboro Rd. Moorestown, NJ at 11:00 AM on June 30, 2012. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice in Mrs. Mohrfeld's name.
