Helen Feldscher Obituary

Feldscher Helen Gordon Died peacefully in her sleep, June 6th, 2022, after a 5-year battle with cancer. Born in 1932, to Al Gordon and Jean Cohen, she grew up in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, attended Olney High and Temple University. She taught in the Philadelphia School District, and later, went back to Temple for a Masters in Psychology. She worked as a school psychologist for the Philadelphia School District for most of her career, even part-time into her 80s. Helen valued people and they valued her. She saw the good in everyone. She met the love of her life on the beach in Atlantic City. Married to Jerome Herbert Feldscher in 1955, she raised a family in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia and then in Plymouth Meeting. Jerry passed away in 2015 after 60 wonderful years of marriage. Helen and Jerry spent most summers at the shore, recapturing the magic. They both loved the shore and looked forward to their time there. Helen was very active with her synagogue, Tiferet Bet Israel, right up to her last days. For years you could find her there every day. She always made an effort to stay connected with her friends and family, and was beloved and appreciated for it. Thoughtful and caring, she let people know how she felt about them, and how important they were to her. She was blessed in return by an enormous community of friends and family that felt privileged to have her in their lives. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Karen Feldscher and Dan Winograd, her son and daughter-in-law, Lee Feldscher and Lisa Mintz, and her grandchildren, Adam, Ben, Rebecca, Talia and Hayden. Contributions can be made in her honor to Tiferet Bet Israel, Hadassah, the American Cancer Society, University of Penn Abramson Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center or a charity of your choice. Funeral Services will be June 9th, 11 A.M. at JOSEPH LEVINE and SONS, 1002 West Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, followed by burial at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Rd., Jenkintown, and then Shiva at Tiferet Bet Israel, 1920 West Skippack Pike, Blue Bell. www.levinefuneral.com

Sending love and sympathy to Helens' family at this sad time. Helen was a beautiful person, a caring and skilled psychologist who loved what she did.
I was a friend and colleague of hers at Emlen School in Philadelphia.
Rest in peace , Helen.

Helen's obituary described her perfectly. She was always so positive, only had good to say about others, and stayed in touch until her last days. She was faithful to her synagogue and religion, but was also knowledgeable and accepting of others beliefs. She will be sorely missed.

Shocked and saddened by Helen's passing. We worked together for many years with the Univac/Unisys Retirees Group. She was always the one who was praying for my health every day. She never mentioned her own illness. She will be missed by all who knew her.

My mother-in-law, Myra Goldman, was very lucky to have Helen as a close friend. I spent many lunches with my husband Brett and Helen and Myra at Izzie's Deli. Helen was such a warm, funny, super- intelligent, great storyteller. She would teach us Yiddish and listen to stories about our lives too. My memories of her are so special. I'll talk to her in heaven!
