Sebatian of Oakland, CA; Loving mother of Scott Sebastian of Houston, TX and the late Darcie Jones of Walnut Creek, CA; Dear sister of Jane Young of Atlanta, GA; dear grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Philip and Derek Jones and Jonathan and Matthew Sebastian; also survived by loving son-in-law Peter Jones of Walnut Creek; She was a native of Oakland, CA; Aged 90 years. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley and a member of Oakland Museum Womens Board for many years. Private family services were held at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Oakland Art Museum or St. John's Oakland Episcopal Church.

Shaieb, Mary T.  
Mary T. Shaieb June 12, 1922 - August 18, 2015 Resident of San Lorenzo Mary passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18th after a short illness. She touched many lives with her kind spirit and positive outlook on life. Mary was married for 54 years to Louis Shaieb, who passed away in 2010. She will be missed by her devoted children, Mark, Annette, Marianne and Diane Shaieb; their spouses, Katie Shaieb and Michael Pattee; her 6 grandchildren, Ryan Pattee, Olivia, Nikki and Harrison Shaieb, and Madelyn and Mason Kim; her niece Carol Moyer; and many close relatives and friends. A third generation Californian, Mary was born and raised in San Leandro, California and moved with her husband to San Lorenzo in 1959 to raise their family. Before starting her family, she worked in retail sales at Emporium Capwell's, and when her children reached school age, she returned to work at the Children's Wardrobe and then at Mervyn's in the gift-wrap department. Mary was a talented artist, and especially enjoyed painting pastel floral arrangements. She was also an avid traveler, taking trips that spanned the globe from Europe to Australia, China and South America. Mary was active in many organizations, including St. Gerard's Women's Club at St. John Church, the Gold Key Club at Bayfair Mall, and the Food Planning Committee at Baywood Court. Her other hobbies were bowling, solving word search and word jumble puzzles, and watching Oakland A's and SF Giants baseball games on TV. But most of all, Mary's joy was rooted in family. Mary enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and their pets. She loved animals; she always stopped to pet a cat or dog walking by. Mary was a special person who touched many lives with her caring and giving nature. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation starting at 5:00 PM and vigil at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Holy Angels Funeral Center on 1051 Harder Rd, Hayward, CA. Funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church on 264 E. Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, CA. Smith, Larry  
Larry Smith July 21, 1943- August 21, 2015 Oakland, California Larry C. Smith, 72, of Oakland, California passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2015. He was born on July 21, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arlene Poston and the late Larry C. Smith Sr. He graduated from Castlemont High School in 1960. He received his BA Degree in Physical Education and went on to teach and coach for 35 years with the Oakland Unified School District. He is survived by his mother, Arlene Poston, brother Gene Smith, sister, Marlene Bell, daughters, Malaika and Shauki Smith and a host of family members. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11a.m. at Fouche's Funeral Home 3665 Telegraph Ave. Oakland, CA 94609.

Smith, Marlene A.  
Marlene A. Smith Aug. 8, 1934 - Aug. 22, 2015 Resident of Fremont Marlene A. Smith, a life long resident of Mission San Jose, passed away on August 22, 2015 at the age of 81. She was born on August 8, 1934 to William Fernandez and Winfred Jardine. Beloved wife of the late Donald Smith. Loving mother of Cindy Woodward and her husband Richard of Fremont, and Richard Smith of Tempe, AZ. Cherished grandmother of Jody Smith, Jennifer and PJ Yann, Jimmy Walsh and Lea Woodward. Devoted great-grandmother of Jayden Walsh. Marlene was a member of St. Joseph Parish. Gardening was her passion, and she loved going out to lunch, visiting friends, and spending time with family. She was a fun loving and outgoing person that will be deeply missed. Private family services will be held.

Smith, Mary Perry  
Mary Perry Smith May 29, 1926 - Aug. 10, 2015 Resident of Oakland Mary Perry Smith, long time resident of Oakland, CA passed away on Aug. 10, 2015. Mary was born in Evansville, IN on May 29, 1926. Her advanced studies began at Ball State University where she completed a Bachelor's degree followed by completing a Master's at Purdue University. She relocated to Texas where she began a teaching career and met her now deceased husband, Novel Smith. They moved to San Francisco and later settled in Oakland, CA. In 1961 Mary began teaching in the San Francisco Unified School District and concluded her teaching career with the Oakland Unified School District at Oakland Technical High School in 1978. While teaching geometry at Oakland Tech Mary launched the MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) program in conjunction with UC Berkeley in 1969. Mary was an active volunteer and board member with many organizations in Oakland and most notably Black Filmmaker's Hall of Fame, Oakland Museum of California, and Oakland Museum Women's Board. Mary is survived by 2 brothers, David Perry of Maryland and Benjamin Perry of Sacramento, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Mary's life which will be scheduled at a later date.
