Antonio Gonzales

Antonio "Tony" Magdaleno Gonzales Jun. 13, 1928 - Feb. 12, 2013 Resident of Union City Antonio Magdaleno Gonzales, Ph.D., passed away at his home in Union City, California, on February 12, 2013, after losing his battle with bone cancer. He was born on June 13, 1928, in Pecos, New Mexico, to the late Magdaleno and Remedios Gonzales. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marcela; his son, Anthony and his wife Marsha; and his granddaughters, Angela & Stephanie. Tony served in both World War II and the Korean War. Following his discharge, he attended college and began what was ultimately a 40 year career in Education. He was a high school principal in New Mexico before moving to California to join the San Mateo County Office of Education, where he was the Director of Bilingual Education. He spent 24 years working for the County before retiring on June 16, 1993. Tony was a member of many organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Visitation will be held on February 21, 2013, 6 PM, at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA. The funeral mass will be held on February 22, 2013, 10 AM, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Union City, CA. Following the mass, Tony will be laid to rest at Chapel of the Chimes. A reception will follow at the Fremont Elks Lodge #2121, 38991 Farwell Drive, Fremont, CA 94536.
