Ben C. Carnesi July 8, 1914 February 14, 2013 Resident of San Lorenzo Ben Carnesi passed peacefully at home on February 14, 2013 with his daughter at his side at the miraculous age of 98. Ben was born in New Orleans LA, to Nace & Frances Carnesi. The family moved to Denver CO in 1922. In 1935 Ben married Margaret DeWan for 6 years and had 2 sons, Frank & Ronald. Ben worked for the Denver Rio Grande Railroad. Ben served in the U.S. Navy
as Gunners Mate 1942-1945 in the Pacific Rim. After 1945 discharge he met Ida Belle Maher at an Oakland dance. They married and shared 42 years until her 1987 passing. After the birth of their daughter Jill they moved to Shelton WA where Ben built his own home. Ben spent 3 years working for Simpson Logging Co. While in Washington he found his calling as a clown in parades & events. Returning to the Bay Area in 1950, Ben worked as a Crane & Fuel Operator at Alameda Naval Air Station where he stayed for 18 years. In 1968 he started "Ben's RV Service" in San Leandro. He retired in late 1970's. The family enjoyed years of travelling the USA in their RV. Ben enjoyed being with his many friends. He loved good food and could eat volumes and not gain weight. He loved music & dancing. He enjoyed bowling & bocce ball, 1 of 3 founders who started the bocce ball teams in San Leandro. Member of the C.V. Moose Lodge, Colombo Club, Buon Tempo Club, Oddfellows Lodge, Five Spot Dance Club, & V.P. Sons of Italy. Survived by daughter Jill Carnesi, son Frank Osborne (Charlotte) (SD), daughter-in-law Joyce Osborne (CO); 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; & 2 great great grandchildren. His "Little Protectors" Amy, Caesar, Cody; & many loyal friends who envied how active Ben was in his 90's. Preceded in death: parents, Nace & Frances Carnesi; wife Ida Belle Carnesi; son Ronald Osborne; brothers Lawrence, Frank & Joseph Carnesi; sisters Anna Praznik, Jean Norton & great grandchild Chase Moore.
