Bob Bordner

Bob Bordner Aug. 20, 1939 - Dec. 9, 2012 Resident of Alameda Bob Bordner was born on Aug. 20th, 1929 in Oakland CA. He went to school at McChesney and at Oakland High. He joined the army and served in Japan with distinction. Later he joined the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He was a truck driver for several Bay Area companies and was a staunch union supporter and member of the Teamsters union local 70. He brought his family to live in his beloved Alameda in 1963 where he resided until his death on December 9th, 2012. Following his retirement from the Owens Illinois glass company he took up fishing in the bay and ocean with his buddies on his commercial salmon boat. It became his passion and he made many friends along the way. Affectionately known as "Bitchin' Bob" he valued loyalty, always voted the Democratic Party, and liked to watch the world go by from his driveway inside a Ford Excursion. He is survived by his sister Phyllis and his children Mike, Ken, Eve, Allison, and Julie. His grandchildren Anna, Logan, Eric, Blake, Alyssa, Ross, Kenny, John, Alexandra, and Max will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents Fremont and Alice. There will be no formal ceremony so please remember Bob in your own way. His ashes will be scattered at sea. He will be missed!
