Resident of San Leandro
Eleanor (Lee) Gomez passed away on Monday, October 8th at Summit Hospital in Oakland, CA. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was born in Hayward, CA on August 25th, 1925 to George E. and Mary Gouveia and spent most of her 87 years making her home and raising a family in San Leandro, CA.
A Class of '43 graduate from Hayward High School, Eleanor married Louis B. Gomez in 1944 and moved to both Iowa City, Iowa and Washington DC for a few short years while Lou was stationed there during his career in the US Navy.

She served as Membership Chairman for the Flying Fins Swim Club Association and filled numerous other supporting roles throughout the many years her children swam for the club.
Once her children were grown, Eleanor returned to school where she studied and found her passion in the world of art. She became an accomplished artist and teacher of Tole and Decorative Art and served as President of the Northern California Association of Tole and Decorative Art.
In addition to her family and her artwork, Eleanor loved to travel and visited many of the states in the US while on family trips and conventions with friends. She especially loved her annual trips to Reno with Lou, where she was an avid Keno player and, winner.

Gomez; daughters, Susan (Jorge) Madrigal and Loretta Robinson; daughter-in-law, Jean Gomez; grandchildren, Christopher Gomez, Michael Robinson, Cassandra Gomez, Linda Roubineau, Jen Gamez, Tina Haagenson, Shawn Gomez, George and Georgette Robinson; great grandchildren, Amanda Hackler, Danika Hurwitz and Jacob Gomez; great-great grandchild Zoe Murray and many nieces and nephews.
