Franklin passed away peacefully at his home in Oakland, CA at the age of 97 years. He was born and raised in Oakland.
He received his education in Oakland, served in the Army
as a medic during World War II
in which he received the Purple Heart
Medal and worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years before retiring in 1980. His passion was playing golf and only three years ago he hung up his clubs.
He is survived by his brother Edwin Chan, his sister-in-law Frances, and many nephews and nieces. He touched many lives with his gentle spirit and positive outlook on life. He was known to his family and long time friends, as Uncle Geo, Georgie or George. His many friends were also his family. His love for his family and the ability to be the life of the party will forever be missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, 2 pm, at East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, 1713 Webster Street, Alameda.
