Henry Alex Sr.

HENRY ALEX, SR. Born on February 8, 1927 to the late Ernest and Ruth Alex in New Iberia, Louisiana. He departed this life on April 30, 2003 in Berkeley, California. On January 14, 1954, he married Marion Rosetta Johnson. To this union were born 4 sons, Henry (Al) Jr. of Long Beach, California, Keith, Ernest and Reginald of New Orleans, Louisiana, 3 daughters, Jerrydeen Alex Harris and Shirley Alex Washington of New Orleans, Nettie Alex of Vellejo, California. Upon reaching manhood, he served in the U.S. Army for 28 years. He received decoration medals, badges-commendations, citations, campaign ribbons for World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a longtime resident of Oakland, CA where he loved to spend his time with his family and friends, listening to music, dancing and playing dominoes. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, seven children, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild. He also leaves behind his only beloved sister, Nettie Alex-Bradford of Oakland, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Henry Alex, Sr. will have visitation services on Friday, May 9, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. at C.P. Bannon Mortuary, 6800 International Blvd. His interment will be at the San Joaquin National Cemetery, Gustine, CA. Any questions, please call 510-632-1011.
