Hortense Prado(1926 - 2012)

Hortense Sanchez Prado
Sept. 10, 1926 - Oct. 10, 2012
Residence of San Leandro
Passed away peacefully at the age of 86. She was born in San Antonio, Texas and married the love of her life there, Jose Prado. They began their life together and traveled the world while raising a family of 8 children. Hortense was always eager to learn something new and worked in a litany of job positions varying from seamtress, to secretarial work for the Atomic Energy
Commission, to being a teacher's aide for special need's students. A devout Catholic and wife of a deacon, she and her husband were instrumental in implementing the first Spanish mass to be held at their local church, was a choral leader at several churches in the diocese and was deeply involved with the local organization within the Charismatic Movement. She lived a vibrant, full and active life in which she built the kingdom of her family and is survived by her husband of an awe-inspiring 65 years, 8 children, 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; we will miss our queen.
