Joe was born and raised in Oakland, CA. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving in Italy and North Africa. Joe retired from the Oakland Fire Dept after over 30 years of service. He married and raised three children in San Leandro. Joe was predeceased by his wife Eleanor, son Daniel, sister Mary Jane and brothers David, Larry and Albert. He is survived by his son Martin, daughter Jane, and five grandchildren. Joe enjoyed family, lifelong friends, the horse races, opera, racquetball, and cooking a good meal. His tough exterior did not fool those close to him. Though Joe lived through some hardships, he never complained and was a solid support for those close to him. The family wishes to thank the staff at Villa San Lorenzo for their compassionate care of Joe during his final months. Visitation begins Sunday 11/04/2012 Noon to 8:00 P.M. at Santos-Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro with the Vigil Service commencing at 5:30 P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Felicitas Church in San Leandro. Interment private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
