Mary Louise Alcala

Mary Louise Alcala Passed away December 20, 2001, in Oakland, at age 66. Loving mother of Rosanna Lee, Eva Dennison, Lorena Weideman, Debra Alcala and Cassandra Alcala. Devoted grandmother of Stephanie, Jessica, Adam, Valerie, and Genevieve. Dear sister of Peter Rondero, Raynaldo Arellano, Daniel Arellano, Raul Arellano, Paula Rondero, Tomasa Torres, Alexandra Holmes and the late John Rondero, and the late Josefina Romero. Preceded also in death by her parents Tomas Arellano and Jovita Romero de Arellano. Godmother of Dolores Ferris of Parker, Arizona, and Maria Jackson of San Jose. Beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a very dedicated community member, dedicated to helping youth and people less fortunate than herself. We will all miss her loving heart. She was a member of the Crusillo Movement, the Bakers and Confectioners Union, and the Community Service Organization. She was involved with the Girl Scouts Troop 2669 of St. Jarlath Catholic Church. Mary had worked as a teachers' aide at Roosevelt Junior High School in Oakland, Spender's Fish Grotto, Oliver Tire Co., and with Nabisco Food Co. Family and friends are invited to the GUERRERO MORTUARY CHAPEL, 407 Estudillo Ave., San Leandro, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. for Visitation with the Vigil Service at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Dec. 26. Funeral Mass Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., St. Jarlath Catholic Church, on the corner of Fruitvale Ave. and Pleasant St. in Oakland. Burial following at St. Mary's Cemetery, 4529 Howe St., Oakland.
