Maudie May Simpson

Maudie May Simpson Resident of Alameda, CA Apr. 16, 1915 - Feb. 1, 2012 Maudie was born on a farm in Oklahoma to James and Mary Ellen Starks. She was 1 of 11 children. In 1941 she married Aubrey Clifford Simpson & moved to Colorado, then to California in 1942, because of the war effort. She was a devoted wife & mother. Her love of children led her to work as supervisor of the Nursery at the Alameda Naval Air Station. She also taught the Sunday preschool class at the Alameda Church of Christ for many years. Maudie is survived by 1 brother, Archie Starks of Oklahoma, her children Gerald Simpson of Alameda, Ellen Ferris (Jefferie) of Alameda, and Richard Simpson of San Leandro, grandchildren Deanna Ferris, David Ferris, Darla Duncan, Marc Simpson, Shannon Burk, Travis Simpson, David Simpson, great-grandchildren Athena, Abigail, Alyssa, Kylie, Jake; also many nieces and nephews. After Aubrey's retirement they loved fishing and taking long walks. Even after Aubrey's death, one could see Maudie walking all around Alameda. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey in 1993. Funeral service will be held at the gravesite on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, 925-935-3311.
