Mike Sanchez entered into rest on Monday May 12, 2014 at the age of 86. Born in South San Francisco to Quadelupe Orasco and Nellie Polina, he was the oldest of six children. A World War II Veteran, Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 14 months and was Honorable Discharged, holding the rank of Private 1st Class, to care for his family. While in the Corp, Mike was a boxer. It was not uncommon for him to throw a few jabs in good, clean fun. Mike worked for the Gerber Corporation for 47 devoted years. His children and grandchildren were all Gerber babies. Mike will always be remembered for his pranks, jokes, his stories and laughter. He was a sports fanatic and San Francisco faithful. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Minnie Sanchez; his brother Bengie; grandchildren Michael, Horacio, Corey and Linda; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Cervantez and son Michael Sanchez. Family and friends are invited to attend visitations on Monday and Tuesday May 19th and 20th respectively from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Holy Angels Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2014 at 10:30am at St Joachim Catholic Church in Hayward. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
