Rev. Montgomery Delmar Tackett passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at age 83 after a brief illness; born Dec. 9, 1929 in Pope County, AR, one of three brothers and ten sisters.
Serving in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1956, Montie earned his high school diploma and trained in electronics, graduated from Bethany Bible College in 1960, and worked in electronics at Lockheed, GTE Sylvania, ITT Jennings, and Singer Link.
Montie's life calling was to serve as a minister and missionary. He worked as a radio engineer for Far East Broadcasting Company, a Christian radio broadcast mission, in Belmont, CA, and in Manila, Philippines. He also served as a Bible college teacher and later as a minister for First Assembly of God Church, Fremont, CA, his family's home church from the 1964 through 1998.
A celebration of Montie's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, 1 p.m. at Harbor Light First Assembly of God Church, 4760 Thornton Avenue, Fremont, CA. has a memorial blog website for Montie.
He was preceded in death by his son Montgomery Jr., parents William Ellis and Gracie Rittie Tackett, siblings Helen, Hattie, Sybil, Estell, John, and his wife of 60 years Willie Etta.
Montie is survived by his siblings Buddy, Esther, Ann, Lois, Gracie, Georgia, and Vela, and his children William Tackett and his wife Vicki, Galen Tackett and his wife Vickie, Lynette Wortham and her husband John, and his grandchildren Jetton, Travis, Ian, Amber, and Tyen Tackett.
