Oscar W. Dub Johnson

Oscar W. "Dub" Johnson Aug. 27, 1922 - Jan. 18, 2013 Resident of Castro Valley After a brief illness, Dub passed away peacefully in the presence of his children at his Castro Valley home of nearly 47 years. Born in Memphis, TN, Dub also lived in Arkansas and Texas before moving to San Francisco in 1942. A graduate of UC Berkeley, he entered the US Navy, serving proudly and seeing combat in the Pacific during World War 2 aboard the USS Mullany. Returning to San Francisco after the war, he began a long distance courtship with Emilia Jaramillo, leading to their marriage in 1950. Dub is predeceased by his wife Emilia, son David, sisters Margaret (Pepper) and Lida (Petersen), and son-in-law Ed Harris. He is survived by Debbie (Harris), Ted (wife Terrie), one sister, Dorothy (Hopper) of Santa Rosa, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. A long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, 2490 Grove Way, Hayward. You're invited to gather, Sat. March 2nd, 1:00pm for a celebration of his life, with a reception following at the church.
