Ramiro G. Alcala

RAMIRO G. ALCALA Ramiro G. Alcala died Sunday, August 15, at the age of 74 in Hayward, Calif. Born in Chavinda, Michoacan, Mexico, he was a longtime resident of San Leandro. He was active in his community and in political and service organizations. He was affiliated with such organizations as Club Deportivo Guadalajara, Community Service Organization, Mexican-American Political Association and the Crusillistas. He was a former shop steward for Union Local #164B. He was also proud of his American citizenship, which he attained in March 2004. He was the father of Rosanna Alcal-Lee of New York, Eva Alcal Dennison of Livermore, Lorena Weiderman of Ashville, N.C., Debra Alcal of Oakland, Cassandra Alcal of Oakland, Judith Alcal-Reveles of San Leandro, Rebecca A. Alcal of San Lorenzo, and Marisol Alcal of San Lorenzo. He was the grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 1. The vigil service will be on Thursday, August 19, at 7:30 p.m., and visiting hours will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., at Guerrero Mortuary Chapel, 407 Estudillo Ave., San Leandro. Mass will be on Friday at St. Elizabeth's Church, 1500-34th Ave., Oakland, at 9 a.m. The burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Oakland. Guerrero Mortuary Chapel (510) 483-5300
