Richard Charles Egerman

Richard Charles Egerman June 5, 1958 - Sept. 24, 2013 Resident of Bay Area Rich was born June 5, 1958 to Mark and Nell Egerman at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto CA. He was raised as a young boy in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from Alameda High School. He started his firefighting career with CDF in Twain Harte working as a seasonal fire fighter. From there he worked for the Bureau of Land Management and the State of Oregon Forestry Department. Rich returned to Cal Fire and completed his career reaching the rank of battalion chief. Rich was proud to serve on the Riverside Search and Rescue Team on 9-11 at the Twin Towers Ground Zero in New York. Residing in Long Beach, Rich reconnected with his true love for sailing and served as a frequent crew member for ocean racing. He was an active member of the Long Beach Yacht Club and served on several racing committees. Rich was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Nell. He is survived by his brother Jim (Kathy), and his two loving nieces, Sarah and Elizabeth. Rich leaves behind many wonderful cousins, friends from Cal Fire, his Long Beach family, the sailing community, Jeanette and the many friends who touched his life. He will be loved and missed by all. A luncheon celebrating his life will be held on Friday, October 18th at 1:00 pm at the Long Beach Yacht Club.
