Terry was born in San Francisco, CA on November 30, 1920, grew up in Oakland, and settled with his family in Alameda for the past 47 years. At 93 years of age Dad passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 8, 2014. As a child he attended Sacred Heart Grammar School then graduated from St. Mary's High School, class of 1938. He was a proud member of the US Navy
serving during WWII
, and in 1978 he retired as a manager for the US Postal Service where he was employed for 36 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph's parish in Alameda serving as an usher at the 5 o'clock Mass for many years. Terry was a great dad – young at heart, quick to smile, a true joy to be around.
His parents Bernard and Catherine, his wife Theresa, all natives of Ireland, and his sister, Catherine, preceded him. Terry leaves behind his six children: Terence (Darcy), Edward, Eileen (Rick), Robert (Kiki), Kathleen, and Patricia. He also leaves behind his three grandsons: Ryan, Michael, and Matthew, his brother and sisters-in-law Robert Foley, Barbara Foley, and Lorraine Foley along with great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 after 3:00 p.m. and are invited to attend the Vigil Service also on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Basilica, 1109 Chestnut St., Alameda. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
